The ‘Twiggy Pieces’ project from 2013/14 is about essential topics in creating artwork. It deals with the aspects of colour and negative space from a photographer’s point of view.
Simple foreground subjects of reduced chromaticity enter into relation with intense colour in the backgrund, or vice versa. An extremely shallow depth-of-field reduces the importance of the branches and twigs as figurative elements ad gives the viewer a certain degree of freedom to investigate the lines and planes of the picture. Perspective is achieved by focus, colour quality, colour temperature and brighness/darkness. In addition with the absence of shadows, these principles establish a clear reference to contemporary colour painting.
